Experience Details
Join Saeko–a professional food stylist, recipe developer, and passionate home cook–for a Japanese cooking class in Osaka! You’ll make 3 types of sushi, tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), and miso soup. Round off the experience by enjoying lunch alongside your classmates and host, then take home an English-language recipe booklet to recreate these dishes at home.
Your host–Saeko–has been running cooking classes from her studio since 2018. Extensive travels abroad (over 21 countries) sparked Saeko’s curiosity about connecting with people from other cultures; she even lived in Denmark where she worked as a Japanese chef! Once she returned to Japan, this combination of experiences led her towards opening her cooking studio in Osaka where she has taught over 500 foreign guests (with no signs of slowing down). She brings a sense of warmth, joy, and dedication to her classes and takes incredible pride in her work.
Your cooking school for the day is Saeko’s home in Osaka! Once you’ve settled in and kitchen-suited up, Saeko will teach you how to make 3 types of sushi: nigiri, traditional rolled sushi, and the beloved California roll. You’ll learn to cut the fish, prepare the ingredients, and assemble these rice-based delights. Then, you’ll master the fine art of making tamagoyaki–a Japanese rolled omelet that requires serious flipping skills! End the experience by making miso soup from scratch (including the dashi stock).
After your extensive kitchen efforts, sit back, relax, and enjoy your handmade meal alongside your classmates and Saeko-san. This experience will leave you with lifelong cooking skills, knowledge about Japanese ingredients, and warm memories.
